Biography
WESTWORLD boasted an undeniably strong pedigree. Debuting for Roadrunner Records in 1998 the band, fronted by TNT vocalist Tony Harnell, also comprised RIOT guitarist Mark Reale, DANGER DANGER bass player Bruno Ravel and former BLUE ÖYSTER CULT and RAINBOW drummer John O'Reilly. WESTWORLD signed to Z Records in 2001.
Harnell would contribute lead vocals to Japanese guitarist JUN SENOUE's Sega Dreamcast 'Sonic Adventure 2' soundtrack appearing on the cuts 'It Doesn't Matter' and 'Escape From The City', the latter a duet with BONE MACHINE's Ted Poley. WESTWORLD's 2000 'Skin' album included a cover version of ALANIS MORRISETTE's 'Uninvited'.
An exclusive WESTWORLD rendition of 'Suicide' would feature on the 2001 released WDHA radio compilation album 'The Tour Bus- Road Trip'. The same year witnessed a live album surfacing in Japan.
WESTWORLD would put in selected American club dates the same year with ICE AGE man Josh Pincus providing keyboards. Harnell would participate in a reunion of the classic TNT line up during 2002 although would retain his ties with WESTWORLD. A new album, billed as 'Cyberdreams', would be announced for summer release through Z Records as well as a North American debut release for the 2000 record 'Skin'.
WESTWORLD's performance at the 'Z Rock UK 2002' festival included a guest spot from TNT guitarist Ronni Le Tekro, who joined the band for covers of BLACK SABBATH's Neon Knights', RIOT's 'Swords & Tequila' and TNT's '10,000 Lovers (In One)'.
Harnell returned to the ranks of TNT for a successful comeback album 'No Religion' in 2004 and later that same year Harnell sessioned for BRAZEN ABBOTT. As 2005 broke Tony Harnell announced the formation of a new band unit, STARBREAKER's very heavy musical direction being illustrated by its choice of title taken after the classic JUDAS PRIEST song. The singer's comrades in arms for this venture would be LAST TRIBE and MIDNIGHT SUN guitarist Magnus Karlsson, Italian bassist Fabrizio Grossi and the ARK, ARTENSION, RIOT and TNT credited John Macaluso on drums. Harnell recorded a further TNT album during 2005 and also donated guest vocals to the track 'Flinch' for Christian Rock project LIBERTY N' JUSTICE.
It was revealed in January 2009 that Tony Harnell was working up tracks for a solo album given a working title of 'En Memoria Carinosa'.
