Biography

WARDOG frontman Tom Gattis is ex-DEUCE and TENSION. The band issued a debut, self-titled album in 1994 through B.S.A. Records, credited as Tom Gattis on vocals and guitar, Chris Catero on bass with Ross Martinez on drums, and worked for a couple of years before getting signed to Metal Blade Records. The 1996 'Scorched Earth' album, recorded at Clamsville Studios in Chandler, Arizona and Stepbridge Studios in Santa Fe, New Mexico, sees Chris Catero again on bass and drum duties shared between John Herrera and Ross Martinez. Production duties were shared between Herrera and Bill Metoyer. The band put in an appearance at the 1998 'Bang Your Head' Festival in Germany where they were joined onstage by a guesting IRON MAIDEN vocalist BRUCE DICKINSON.

The 1999 album, 'A Sound Beating' also issued through Metal Blade and again recorded at both Clamsville Studios in Chandler, Arizona and Stepbridge Studios in Santa Fe, New Mexico, saw the band expand to a four-piece with the addition of Paul Sullivan on guitar and Eric Bongiorno replacing Martinez on drums. In August 1999 the group put in package dates of Germany in alliance with SACRED STEEL, THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG and DESTINY'S END.

WARDOG duly donated their take on 'Purgatory' to a 2000 IRON MAIDEN tribute record 'Slaves To The Power'. Gattis announced the formation of a new band entitled AFTERBURN, a reunion with erstwhile TENSION colleague Tim O'Connor on bass, Bulgarian master guitarist Peter Petev and ex-VYPER and PRIZONER drummer Michael Scott . The title of this new venture would later be switched to BALLISTIC.

Bassist Chris Catero would form up part of erstwhile MEGADETH guitarist MARTY FRIEDMAN's touring band for his 'Guitarevolution' September 2003 tour. Ex-WARDOG members vocalist / bassist Chris Catero, guitarist Paul Sullivan and drummer Eric Bongiorno, in union with ex-LTO guitarist Jeromy Graves, forged RAZER.
