Toledo, Ohio's EDWIN DARE originally emerged as an extremely Progressive Jazz-Metal influenced outfit fronted by the operatic vocal style of Bryce Barnes backed by guitarist Jeff Kollman, bassist Kevin Chown and drummer Tom Kollman. The debut album, 1993's ' The Unthinkable Deed' issued via Marmaduke Records, featured THE BEATLES cover version 'Oh Darling'. Japanese editions boasted different cover art but would suffer from faulty mastering.
The band's second album, 1994's 'Cant Break Me', also released on the band's own Marmaduke Records label and Teichiku in Japan, saw the group defining their own style of commercially based hard rock imbued with a progressive edge. 'The Unthinkable Deed' was was re-issued by the band in early 1997 following public demand after the cult success generated by 'Can't Break Me'. A third self-funded effort, ' My Time To Die', arrived in 1998.
Guitarist Jeff Kollman joined THE TRUTH then appeared with the UFO pairing of vocalist PHIL MOGG and bassist PETE WAY in their MOGG/WAY project for the 1999 'Chocolate Box' album. JEFF KOLLMAN also sessioned on Phil Mogg's solo project, JOHN WEST's 'Permanent Marks' as well as finding time to cut his debut solo album 'Shedding Skin'. In August 2002 Bryce teamed up with W.A.S.P. drummer Stet Howland announcing the formation of a side venture dubbed THE HOWLIN' DOGS. This unit also included ENGINE JOE guitarist Joe Monroe and guitarist Steve Lutke of TOBASCO KAT.
The second EDWIN DARE album, 'Can't Break Me', was re-issued in 2005. This new version, re-mastered by Brad Vance, hosted an extra exclusive track in 'The Forbidden'. Meantime, JEFF KOLLMAN Kevin Chown would be active with the JKB project, releasing a debut album 'Bleeding The Soul', and also as part of Los Angeles based modern Rock quartet CRUMB BROS., featuring drummer Shane Gaalaas of B'Z, COSMOSQUAD and DIESEL MACHINE, and vocalist Mark Renk on an inaugural record 'State Of Your Mind'.
With regular UFO bassist PETE WAY experiencing visa difficulties, Jeff Kollman took over bass duties for UFO's July 2005 US tour dates.
