Biography
Originally formed in early 1999, Knoxville, Tennessee-based Alternative Metal band 10 YEARS released the self-financed 'Into The Half Moon' album in 2001 with a line-up of vocalist Michael Lee, lead guitarist Matt Wantland, rhythm guitarist Ryan 'Tater' Johnson, bassist Andy Parks and drummer Brian Vodinh.
By 2002, Lee had been replaced by frontman Jesse Hasek, whilst Parks would later make way for new bass player Lewis Cosby. With a new line-up 10 YEARS continued to generate a strong local underground following with the April 2003 independently released 'Killing All That Holds You' EP, as well as sharing the stage with such headliner acts as NONPOINT, SALIVA, SHINEDOWN and CAVE IN. Having sold out of its initial 2000 pressings, 'Killing All That Holds You' would be re-packaged with extra tracks and re-released as a full-length album in 2004.
In 2005, 10 YEARS signed with Republic/Universal Records, and entered the studio in Los Angeles with producer Josh Abraham (STAIND, VELVET REVOLVER) to record their major label debut 'The Autumn Effect'. To promote the August release of their new album, the band took to the road for U.S. dates supporting DISTURBED followed by shows with BREAKING BENJAMIN. 10 YEARS would close the year with another extensive cross country trek in November and December, this time aligned with BOBAFLEX, SEVENDUST and headliners MUDVAYNE. 10 YEARS opened 2006 with February US shows supported by FIVESPEED before a high profile support slot to MUDVAYNE and KORN to take the band through to April. Also arriving would be an acoustic download EP through iTunes. That same month the group then toured Australia, opening up a bill comprising DISTURBED, HATEBREED and KORN. They then hopped onto the KORN headed 'Family Values' festivals on a bill including also DEFTONES, STONE SOUR, FLYLEAF, BURY YOUR DEAD, BULLETS AND OCTANE and DIR EN GREY. A round of September US dates had the group working alongside EVANS BLUE and ALLELE.
In 2008 10 YEARS supported FILTER, announcing a run of U.S. tour dates beginning on June 12th 2008 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and continuing through until July 5th in Des Moines, Iowa. Ironically, 10 YEARS' new album, 'Division', sold more than twice as many copies as the new FILTER record in their first week of release. 10 YEARS selling 28,000 copies and FILTER moving 12,000.
