Biography
SHOUT mainstay Ken Tamplin's first solo album, 1990's 'An Axe To Grind', saw contributions from QUIET RIOT's Chuck Wright on bass, WHITE TIGER's Mark St. John on guitar, FIFTH ANGEL's Ken Mary on drums. Others involved included Joe Galetta on drums, Gary Buchanan on guitar and ex-BOSTON man David Sikes on bass.
The second TAMPLIN album, simply entitled 'Tamplin', was more of a solo affair featuring a small assortment of Ken's musician friends including guitarists JAG PANZER's fretburner JOEY TAFOLLA and HOUSE OF LORDS Lanny Cordolla. KEN TAMPLIN then launched into a series of solo album projects including 'Liquid Music I' and 'Colors Of Christmas' in 1997. Live solo work during that year, including touring Japan, saw the inclusion of former ICE WATER MANSION, STORM WARNING and ALCOHOLICA guitarist Howie Simon. Further solo outings included 'Where Love Is' in 1998 and 'Brave Days Of Old' the following year. A SHOUT album, 'Shout Back', also saw issue in 1999.
In 2001 Tamplin re-emerged fronting CRUSADE, a band project including LION guitarist DOUG ALDRICH, QUIET RIOT bassist Rudy Sarzo and IMPELLITERRI men keyboard player Edward Harris Roth and drummer Glen Sobel.
A new TAMPLIN album was readied for 2002 release 'Wake The Nations' through the Italian Frontiers label. Ken Tamplin assembled a band of guitarists Scott Van Zen and Howie Simon, bass player Daniel Pearson, keyboard player 'Eduardo' Roth and drummer Glenn Sobel.
