Biography
New Jersey club band SHARK FRENZY marked the recording inauguration for guitarist RICHIE SAMBORA, subsequently to journey on, via Dean Fasnao's MESSAGE, to superstardom with BON JOVI. Frontman Bruce Foster, an ex-member of JACOB'S CREEK, had recorded keyboards for both STATUS QUO, on 'Dog Of Two Head', and on the 1974 debut KISS album. SHARK FRENZY, founded in 1977 and inducting Sambora at the age of 18, built up a loyal following in the late 70s with a residency at Charley's Uncle's steakhouse. SHARK FRENZY's line-up would be fluid, as bassist Jody Giambelluca also performed with Sylvester Stallone's brother Frank in VALENTINE. Other band members would include guitarist Jace Smith, bassists Tom Marolda and Harvey Lame and drummer Bob Werblin. With the demise of the band, Foster also worked with Sambora in MESSAGE.
Renewing old ties, Foster and Sambora collaborated on the song 'Trail Of Broken Hearts', recorded by CHER for the 'Days Of Thunder' movie soundtrack. Foster also had a hand in composing tracks 'The Answer' and 'One Light Burning' on RICHIE SAMBORA's solo album 'Stranger In This Town'. Ex-SHARK FRENZY bassist Tom Marolda also donated his songwriting talents too, scoring credits on 'Ballad Of Youth'.
In 2004 a collection of demos featuring Sambora was released on album, 'Shark Frenzy Vol.1', and the original band cast performed a one-off, invite only Holiday Inn gig in Clinton, New Jersey to mark the ocassion.
