Biography

For a long time TKO was Seattle's best kept secret. Although the group suffered greatly throughout their career with a succession of line-up changes, TKO produced a series of high quality, hard hitting albums. Created by vocalist Brad Sinsel, who had previously recorded a bunch of more Pop orientated demos in the mid 70's. TKO had been signed to a major deal by Infinity Records, although the label would quickly go bust and turn the group's debut album, 1979's 'Let It Roll', into a staple of the bargain bins for many years to come. This recording featured formative members bassist Mark Seidenverg and drummer Darryl Siguenza. A new rhythm section of Evan Sheeley on bass and ex-RAGE man Gary Thompson on drums was installed. However, the group, including guitarists Tony Bortko and Rick Pierce, fragmented.

Brad Sinsel would regroup to record a variety of demo tapes with a number of line-ups, including the ex-RAGE and TYRANT duo of guitarist Adam Brenner and bassist Scott Earl,  before concentrating on a tougher direction. In collaboration with the Hawaiian based producer Rick Keefer would create the classic 'In Your Face' album in 1981, a record that would not be released until 1984, by which time the entire band that had recorded it, bar Sinsel, had moved on to other things.

By the time the album was released guitarist Adam Brenner had gone solo re-billed as ADAM BOMB to cut his 'Fatal Attraction' album first released in Japan before Brenner gained a deal in North America with Geffen. Brenner then formed a new act led by DOGS D'AMOUR bassist Steve James titled LAST BANDITS in 1991 for a one off album. Much later Brenner would undergo another teansformation becoming 'Pink' for his 1998 band GET ANIMAL. The trio of Rick Pierce, Evan Sheely and Gary Thompson joined local rivals Q5, achieving a good degree of success with their debut courtesy of the anthemic 'Steal The Night'.

'In Your Face' had been in receipt of strong underground press attention, especially from the British Rock magazine 'Metal Forces', a factor that prompted Combat Records to sign TKO, licensing the album to Music For Nations for Europe. 'In Your Face' was to initially surface in Japan and the oriental version of the album features different cover artwork and an extra track, a cover of 'Wild In The Streets' which featured on the original demo.

In order for the band to continue Sinsel hired former CULPRIT guitarist Kjartan Kristofferson and bassist Scott Earl along with ex STRIKE and RANDY HANSEN BAND drummer Ken Mary, who came in for original choice Michael Alexich.

By the time 'Below The Belt' was released in 1986, featuring, like 'In Your Face', Brad's wife Suzie Sinsel on the cover, Mary had joined CHASTAIN and FIFTH ANGEL, subsequently hooking up with HOUSE OF LORDS and ALICE COOPER, although he had recorded the drum tracks. He was replaced by a returning Mike Alexich

Sinsel would team up with Rick Pierce once again in the short-lived SUICIDE SQUAD before folding TKO and forming WAR BABIES after dallying with the idea of a solo project. Indeed, Sinsel recorded almost an album's worth of demos in 1987 under the title of 'Native Tongues' produced by Rick Keefer. Tracks included 'When I Was Young', 'This Town' and 'Shelter' and went in a rather commercial direction. WAR BABIES eventually signed to Columbia. Scott Earl and Kjartan Kristofferson had already relocated to Los Angeles to put the Glam Metal band BANG GANG together.

2001 saw the re-release of 'In Your Face' as 'In Your Face And Up Your Ass' on the German Metal Mayhem Music label. The release included a bonus live CD recorded in 1981. ADAM BOMB was active on the gig circuit in 2005 and into 2006, undertaking a quite massive series of solo dates.
