SLAVE TO THE SYSTEM is a 2003 founded venture of QUEENSRŸCHE drummer Scott Rockenfield and erstwhile QUEENSRŸCHE guitarist Kelly Gray. Vocals would be handled by SWEATY NIPPLES man Scotty Heard with the BROTHER CANE pairing of guitarist Damon Johnson and bassist Roman Glick. Heard backed out of the project in February of 2004.

SLAVE TO THE SYSTEM signed to the Spitfire label in mid 2005. Later that year the group scored some high profile exposure when it was revealed that Damon Johnson had written the hit SANTANA single 'Just Feel Better', featuring guest vocals by Steven Tyler of AEROSMITH.
