Biography

Project outfit founded upon the talents of former MONTROSE front man and noted solo artist SAMMY HAGAR, JOURNEY guitarist NEAL SCHON, ex DUST, STORIES and RICK DERRINGER bassist Kenny Aaronson and former AUTOMATIC MAN and NOVO COMBO drummer Michael Shrieve.

and Bay Area compatriot Hagar had been friends for a long time and had talked about working on a project together when their respective schedules allowed. In late 1982 the duo found time to sit down and write in earnest, reportedly coming up with enough material for at least two or three albums. Rather than merely heading for the nearest recording studio to bash everything out they conceived the idea of putting a band together, with old mates Aaronson and Shrieve and recording the shows live.

Under the handle of H.S.A.S. the quartet rehearsed for a mere month before booking shows at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco.

Post H.S.A.S. Schon went to further heady heights with JOURNEY before founding the multi platinum BAD ENGLISH, cult melodic Rockers HARDLINE and a string of solo albums before resurrecting JOURNEY. Hagar also found massive success in America fronting VAN HALEN before resuming his solo career.

Aaronson joined BILLY SQUIER's band before finding a lucrative career as a session player.

The H.S.A.S. album was later re-issued in Britain by Now & Then Records in the mid 90's.

Both Schon and Shrieve had also been members of SANTANA in their formative years and would unite to create ABRAXAS POOL (essentially SANTANA minus Carlos Santana!) in the 90's.
