PROTOTYPE in a Californian Progressive Metal outfit founded in the late 90s, debuting with a 1995 demo entitled 'Seed'. The group's commercial inauguration came in 1998 with the 'Cloned' outing. Debut album 'Trinity', released in North America by WWIII Records, would secure a European license through Massacre Records for 2004 issue and see release in Chile via Toxic Records. PROTOTYPE pulled in Australian drummer Sam Aliano in December of 2003.

Nightmare Records released the 'Continuum' album in May 2006. Drum duties for these sessions were handled by former PROTOTYPE member Damion Ramirez, with one track also featuring former drummer Pat Magrath. PROTOTYPE was notably featured in the 'Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock' video game with the song 'The Way It Ends', taken from the group's sophomore album, 'Continuum'.

PROTOTYPE announced the addition of drummer Nic Ritter to the group's ranks in early 2008.
