A suitably ironic title for a union of musicians of undoubted impeccable pedigree but radically opposing musical styles. PLATYPUS brought together the talents of KING'S X frontman Ty Tabor, DREAM THEATER bass player John Myung, ALICE COOPER and DREAM THEATER keyboard player DEREK SHERINIAN and DIXIE DREGS, ZENO and WINGER drummer Rod Morgenstein.

In mid 2001 PLATYPUS, minus DEREK SHERINAN who was by now fully involved with his PLANET X act and touring with Swedish guitar guru YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, would transmute into THE JELLY JAM. Under their new banner Tabor, Myung and Morgenstein would issue an eponymous album in November for Inside Out Music.

Strangely, despite bowing out of PLATYPUS, Sherinan also operates yet another act entitled JUGHEAD in alliance with TY TABOR and the esteemed sibling rhythm section of Matt and Gregg Bissonette.
