PANIC was the pre-METALLICA act of guitarist Dave Mustaine. The group, according to popular legend, was initiated by singer Charles Gooduson and Dave Mustaine when the pair met as audience members at a club called Slymickers to watch METAL MIGHT. Mustaine's tenure with PANIC closed after a fatal road accident involving other band members. The band's driver and drummer were killed. The group dissolved and in 1981 Mustaine joined METALLICA. He would subsequently enjoy platinum success fronting his own outfit MEGADETH.
