Initially known as OLD LADY DRIVERS and masterminded by guitarist James 'Jimmy' Plotkin and vocalist Alan Dubin. Plotkin's antecedent Death Metal combo REGURGITATION had issued two 1987 demo tapes, 'Bathroom Rules' and 'Organic Backwash'. O.L.D. made a stark impression upon the Rock scene with their proto Industrial sound and the extreme vocal delivery of Dubin. The band, then including drummer Ralph Pimental, debuted in 1988 with the 'Old Lady Drivers' album for Earache Records. 'Lo Flux Tube' arrived in 1991 featuring session bass as supplied by Jason Everman. Post O.L.D. Everman of course would enjoy high profile with acts such as SOUNDGARDEN, NIRVANA and MINDFUNK. The third O.L.D. effort 'The Musical Dimensions Of Sleastak' found Herschel Gaer employed on bass. A remix album 'Hold On To Your Face' preceded the 1995 'Formula' swansong.

Plotkin would act as touring guitarist for fellow Earache act SCORN. A diverse array of extreme music projects included work under the 'Jupiter Crew' pseudonym for a 1996 two track EP credited to JUNGLE CONCRETE on Possible Records plus solo albums billed as FLUX, ' Protoplasmic' in 1997, and ROMANCE, 'Bleak Memories' on Noise Museum in 1999. Collaborations featured Plotkin with Bill Yurkiewicz in NAMANAX, KRANKY's 'A Peripheral Blur' outing in 1998 and with Mark Spybey for DEAD VOICES ON AIR. Other leftfield projects saw SOLARUS and TRIFFID PROJECT. Plotkin would issue two worthy 1996 releases, the solo album 'The Joy Of Disease' and a collaboration with SCORN's Mick Harris simply billed as PLOTKIN / HARRIS for the 'Collapse' album. He would also rack up credits with ATOMSMASHER, the latter in league with DISCORDANCE AXIS drummer Dave Witte and DJ Speedranch.

Plotkin and Dubin re-united in 2000 in union with Jason Corely of 16 to found SHADOWCAST. A demo tape emerged before the erstwhile O.L.D. duo were then found to be forging Doom act KHANATE with THORR'S HAMMER / BURNING WITCH guitarist Stephen O'Malley and MANBYRD drummer Tim Wyskida for an eponymous 2001 album. In 2006 Plotkin forged KHLYST with Runhild Gammelsäeter of THORR'S HAMMER.
