Biography
Regarded as one of the most outstanding of all American Hard Rock bands to have only ever made a single record. SPEEDWAY BOULEVARD were a multi-racial band produced by the production team of 60's music gurus Kasenetz and Katz, who had also been responsible for RAM JAM in the mid 70's. SPEEDWAY BOULEVARD seemed to cover a variety of styles on their one album for Epic, but the whole thing had a high level of cohesiveness that failed to disappoint.
Unfortunately, the group fell apart within a year and bassist Dennis Feldman joined BALANCE for 1982's 'In For The Count' album. Following the demise of that band, Feldman hooked up with the MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP and then toured with KISS guitarist PAUL STANLEY on the starchild's 1989 solo tour which also involved Feldman's ex-BALANCE colleague Bob Kulick.
With the Stanley tour completed, Feldman would spend time fronting Australian Hard Rock band HEAVEN under the assumed name Dennis St. James before he and Kulick proceeded to form SKULL, keeping his new, adopted surname. SPEEDWAY BOULEVARD keyboard player Jordan Rudes joined DIXIE DREGS, turning up later on an album by VINNIE MOORE. In 1995 he released a solo album, 'Listen'.
Rudes made a cameo appearance on KIP WINGER's 'This Conversation Seems Like A Dream' and put a band together with erswhile ZENO, WINGER and DIXIE DREGS drummer Rod Morgenstein. The RUDES/MORGENSTEIN pair released debut product through Domo in 1997.
