Biography

Cheekily titled solo project from New York born Tony Harnell following the break up of the Norwewgian Metal band TNT which he had fronted. Due to TNT's success the singer had retained a solo deal with PolyGram in Japan, the result of which was the MORNING WOOD project.

The album was recorded with WIDOWMAKER / SAVATAGE guitarist Al Pitrelli, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT bassist Donnie Miranda and SARAYA / DRIVE, SHE SAID drummer Chuck Bonfante and is essentially an unplugged covers record with a couple of self-penned tracks added to boot. The covers range from MARVIN GAYE's 'What's Goin' On' through CROSBY, STILLS & NASH's 'Love The One You're With' to the ALLMAN BROTHERS' 'Midnight Rider'.

During 1996 demand for a new TNT album in Japan led to the band reforming and subsequently releasing the 'Firefly' record. Harnell also fronted WESTWORLD with RIOT guitarist Mark Reale for a series of albums. Pitrelli issued further successful albums with SAVATAGE prior to joining MEGADETH in 2000, then bouncing back to SAVATAGE in 2002.

The MORNING WOOD album would be re-issued by Escape Music for the European market in September 2002. As 2005 broke Tony Harnell announced the formation of a new band unit, STARBREAKER's very heavy musical direction being illustrated by its choice of title taken after the classic JUDAS PRIEST song. The singer's comrades in arms for this venture would be LAST TRIBE guitarist Magnus Karlsson, Italian bassist Fabrizio Grossi and the ARK, ARTENSION, RIOT and TNT credited John Macaluso on drums.
