Biography
ELECTRIC ANGELS was a Hard Rock quartet formed by from the ashes of CANDY by that band's final line up of vocalist Shane, guitarist Ryan Roxie, bass player Jonathan Daniels and drummer John Schubert. Ryan Roxie had made his musical debut with THE STRATOCASTERS, a trio made up of three lead guitarists. KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick produced the New Yorkers first, three track demo, leading to a deal with Atlantic Records. The band's sole album was produced by veteran producer Tony Visconti, the last record to be laid down at the famous Good Earth studios in London. Visconti has often cited the record as one of his proudest achievements.
In 1994 Daniels and Schubert co-founded the slightly Alternative troupe THE LOVELESS. Ryan Roxie found himself a fairly prestigious gig touring with ALICE COOPER in 1997, but was also playing in a side project back in Los Angeles , DON'T TOUCH GRANDPA, with ex-KISS drummer Eric Singer, former CANDY, KILL FOR THRILLS and GUNS N' ROSES guitarist GILBY CLARKE and erstwhile OZZY OSBOURNE / BEGGARS & THIEVES bassist Phil Soussan, playing choice cover songs by DAVID BOWIE, T-REX, THE WHO and SWEET.
Roxie also went on to form DAD'S PORNO MAG, a power trio made up of Roxie on guitar and vocals, bassist Will Evetts and drummer Mike Fasano, the latter two from GILBY CLARKE's band. GUNS N'ROSES / THE CULT drummer Matt Sorum also sat in with DAD'S PORNO MAG in an early incarnation.
Ryan Roxie was back in ALICE COOPER's band during 2000, appearing on his 'Brutal Planet' album and subsequent releases. During mid 2005 the guitarist would make his presence felt on the soundtrack to the Horror movie 'Scarlet Fry's Junkfood Horrorfest', starring ALICE COOPER's daughter Calico. The Roxie penned track, 'Psycho Fighter', featured Roxie, ex-MÖTLEY CRÜE man John Corabi and ALICE COOPER band members bassist Chuck Garrick and drummer Tommy Clufetos.
December 2nd 2006 saw Roxie forming up a one off "all-star" Metal band assembled for a 'Sweden Rock' concert at Stockholm's Nalen venue. Joining him for this performance, headed up by ACCEPT and U.D.O. singer Udo Dirkschneider, would be guitarists Oscar Dronjak of HAMMERFALL, Janne Stark of OVERDRIVE, LOCOMOTIVE BREATH and MOUNTAIN OF POWER, Mia Coldheart of CRUCIFIED BARBARA, bass player Nalle PÃ¥hlsson of TREAT and ZAN CLAN plus EUROPE drummer Ian Haugland.
