New York band founded by BLUE ÖYSTER CULT drummer and songwriter Albert Bouchard. BRAIN SURGEONS also feature former KING FLUX / HELEN WHEELS BAND guitarist Billy Hilfiger. Guitarist Peter Bohovesky is ex-KABLAMACHUNK. The band was originally titled IMAGINARY PLAYMATES and formed by Bouchard with his wife and ex-FLAMING YOUTH drummer Deborah Frost. Bouchard had prior to this been involved post BLUE OYSTER CULT with his brother and fellow BLUE OYSTER CULT refugee Joe Bouchard with THE BOUCHARD BROS.

Minus Joe this band became THE CULT BROTHERS with Billy Hifliger, his brother Andy on bass and Jimmy Cacala on drums. The band would also operate as a tribute band to THE DOORS with vocalist Joe Tag billed as CRYSTAL SHIP.

The 1997 'Malpractice' album sees a cover of HAWKWIND's 'Needle Gun'. European dates in October of 2003 had the band hooked up with AMERICAN DOG and former IRON MAIDEN singer PAUL DIANNO.
