Biography

MVP is fronted by vocalist Mike Vescera, previously with OBSESSION, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and Japanese Rockers LOUDNESS. The 1999 'Windows' album sees YNGWIE MALMSTEEN colleagues bassist Barry Sparks and drummer B.J. Zampa. YNGWIE MALMSTEEN himself also puts in an appearance on the track 'Say A Prayer'. Vescera also guested on HELLOWEEN guitarist ROLAND GRAPOW's 'Kaleidoscope' album the same year. The reputation afforded by Vescera's terms with his previous acts gave the album considerable impetus and sales across the Far East were strong. Zampa toured Europe with THUNDERHEAD the same year before joining WAYNE in September 2000.

A second MVP album, 'Animation', arrived in 2000. ROLAND GRAPOW would guest once again alongside a studio band comprising fellow guitarists JOE STUMP, Eric Riordan, TRIBE OF GYPSIES man Roy Z and DR. SIN's Eduardo Ardunay, JOE STUMP'S REIGN OF TERROR bassist Jay Rigney, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN credited keyboard player Mats Olausson and drummer Frank Lombardi.

Vescera maintained a hectic schedule that year, also fronting up the KILLING MACHINE project alongside the W.A.S.P. rhythm section of bassist Mike Duda and drummer Stet Howland with STREAM and BELLADONNA guitarist Peter Scheithauer. 2000 also found Vescera renewing a relationship with Brazilian band DR. SIN he had first forged with guest appearances in 1997. This time though it would be announced that Vescera had actually joined the band.

As 2001 broke it emerged that Vescara was fronting JOE STUMP'S REIGN OF TERROR for the 'Sacred Ground' album. The industrious vocalist would unveil plans for a Doom Metal based endeavour billed as PALACE OF BLACK during 2002.

A new MVP studio album 'The Altar' emerged in Japan during December of 2002. The European audience would have to wait until May for the record, minus Japanese bonus track 'It Don't Come Easy', for release through the Dutch Mascot label. A whole swathe of guest artists on 'The Altar' sessions included HALFORD guitarist Mike Ciashiak, the THUNDERHEAD and WAYNE credited JIMI BELL, ROLAND GRAPOW, Robert Marcello of IRONHORSE, Rob Johnson from MAGNITUDE 9, Eddie Ardunay of DR. SIN, keyboard player Mats Olausson of ARK and W.A.S.P. drummer Stet Howland. Vescara spent early 2004 writing new MVP material in league with guitarist JIMI BELL, a veteran of Geezer Butler's solo band, THUNDERHEAD, DIAMONDBACK and WAYNE. That December the singer recorded the SAFE HAVEN project album.
