Biography

Heavy Metal act POWERMAD, vocalist / guitarist Joel DuBay, guitarist Todd Haug, bass player Jeff Litke and drummer Bill Hill, formed during 1984 in Minneapolis, debuting with a four track demo in 1985. A self-titled EP, as part of the 'Combat Boot Camp' series, arrived on Combat Records in 1986. The band, taking on Adrian Liberty on drums, subsequently signed to Reprise Records and released 'The Madness Begins' EP, notably recorded at PRINCE's Paisley Park Studios, in 1988 and, with new drummer John Macaluso. The Tim Bomba produced 'Absolute Power' album in 1989. POWERMAD toured the USA as support to OVERKILL and even put in a cameo instrumental musical performance of the track 'Slaughterhouse' in the David Lynch movie 'Wild At Heart' starring Nicholas Cage.

In 1999 Century Media re-issued the 'Powermad' material as part of a 'Combat Boot Camp' three way split CD shared with NAPALM and HAVE MERCY. Post POWERMAD, John Macaluso racked up impressive credentials with a myriad of acts such as ARK, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ARTENSION, TNT, BAD ANIMALS, STARBREAKER, MULLMUZZLER, MCM, HOLY MOTHER and RIOT.

POWERMAD announced a 2007 reformation, the band comprising vocalist / guitarist Joel DuBay, guitarist Todd Haug, bass player Jeff Litke with John Macaluso on the drums. This unit performed at the Balingen, Germany 'Band Your Head' festival in June. A new album was also announced.
