Biography
Minneapolis Metal band GEMINI, founded in 1989, provided the first commercially recorded output for vocalist Lance King. The singer established his own label imprint, Nightmare Records, to handle two GEMINI albums, 'Gemini' (also called 'The Pink Album') in 1990 and 'Out For Blood' issued in 1992. The band was formulated by King together with former PROPHECY bassist Tracy Sprain, guitarists Roger Moore and Rob Kruger with Dave Evenson on drums. Both Moore and Evans opted out following completion of the debut, being replaced by guitarist Jerry Merten and drummer Brian Reidinger to record 1992's 'Out For Blood', this session sporting a cover of HEART's 'Barracuda'.
A third GEMINI album emerged billed 'Spiritual Dimensions Of Music'. Jerry Merten exited, relocating to the Virgin Islands to become a scuba instructor. King retained his enthusiasm for Nightmare Records, building the concern up into a leading independent in the field of Progressive Metal. As a vocalist, he would make his mark fronting BALANCE OF POWER, THE KING'S MACHINE, EMPIRE, DEFYANCE and PYRAMAZE. Sprain worked with club band LEMON TROPHY. Brian Reidinger joined WHITE FEAR CHAIN featuring LAST CRACK singer Buddo and REALM members guitarists Takis Kinis and Paul Laganowski plus bassist Steve Post to issue a 1996 album 'Visceral Life'.
GEMINI, fronted by Chris Bergstrom and featuring drummer Ericjh Winter of ALIBI, would still be a going concern in 2005, albeit a covers bar band performings songs by the likes of LIMP BIZKIT, STAIND, BUSH and WEEZER.
