Biography
Solo outfit put together by one of the East Coast's most celebrated hired guns. Bobby Messano has recorded with STARZ, BENNY MARDONES, TYCOON, FRANKE & THE KNOCKOUTS, MARTEE LEBOW, JOE LYNN TURNER, FIONA, CINDY BULLENS and LOU GRAMM.
The original line-up of the MESSANO band featured bassist Mike Seifritt and Jimmy Clark on drums, although only Clark contributed to the 1989 album alongside his successor, Mike 'Hurricane' Gage. Keyboard duties were shared between Gary Corbett, who toured as a sideman with KISS in the '80s, and Joey Zee. Ex-BALANCE and RAINBOW drummer Chuck Burgi also played on the album.
MESSANO's eleven track record featured a cover of the STARZ number 'Sing It, Shout It' (even though it was originally recorded by the group before Messano joined!) as well as a re-working of the FRANKE & THE KNOCKOUTS number 'Tell Me Why', retitled 'Hide Our Love Away' (Tell Me Why)'. Both 'Don't Tell Me It's Over' and Four Play' were co-written by Messano and Franke Previte, the former also in partnership with BON JOVI's Tico Torres.
The band did actually make it out into the clubs, playing shows in 1988 and 1989 with a roster comprising Messano, Gary Corbett, bassist Dan Furante and drummer Jimmy Clark. However, the band was over as the 90's kicked in and Messano found himself playing in ROBIN BECK's band and was heard to be involved in recording new material with FRANKE & THE KNOCKOUTS for a fourth album that never materialized.
