Biography

Memphis Hard Rock outfit. TARGET frontman JIMI JAMISON is best known for his later work with COBRA, SURVIVOR and as a solo artist. In April 1974 TARGET enlisted Joel Williams on drums as replacement for Steve Frieze. At this stage TARGET comprised of vocalist Jimi Jamison, guitarist Buddy Davis, ex-CABOOSE and COLD BLOOD bassist Tommy Cathey, Marius Penczner on keyboards and Williams.

The same year TARGET, minus Jamison, were approached to provide a backing band for RUBY STARR. After rehearsals only Penczner and Williams took up the offer as Davis and Cathey returned to TARGET. Jamison and bassist Tommy Cathey had worked together previously on the 1973 D BEAVER album 'Combinations'. Cathey later worked with Christian Rockers DEGARMO & KEY. Prolific nationwide touring from TARGET saw multiple supports to BLACK SABBATH.

In 1977 Williams, Penczner and ex-GREY GHOST bassist David Mayo created the short lived TRIPLE CROSS. Williams then joined BLACK OAK ARKANSAS. Swedish Hard Rock act LOCOMOTIVE BREATH covered TARGET's 'Can't Fake It' for their re-issued version of the 2002 album 'Heavy Machinary'.
