Biography
MELODICA is fronted by DANGER DANGER and BONE MACHINE frontman TED POLEY in union with Austrian guitarist Gerhard Pilcher. MELODICA's opening gambit 'Lovemetal' saw the esteemed ex-MARILLION and GTR drummer Jonathon Mover behind the kit with Levi Springer on bass and Paul Morris on keyboards.
The 2000 'USA Acoustica' album, a self financed affair, was culled in the main from an acoustic live performance. The band on this occasion comprised of bass players Werner Karall and Johnny Balsamo, keyboard player Michael Wasserman and drummers Eddie Driscoll and Christoph Busch. Extra tracks included studio demos and a version of THE CULT's 'Fire Woman'.
In 2001 MELODICA got themselves into the record books by becoming the first band to auction off a concert (at a $2'500 reserve) on the internet E Bay auction site. During April of 2002 the band put in live shows as support to ANGEL plus an appearance at a New Jersey KISS convention. By mid 2002 the singer and guitarist were operating simply billed as POLEY/PICHLER and touting a debut album 'Big', released in October.
2003 brought about the unveiling of yet another new band, the 80's covers act OUT OF DANGER. Joining Poley for this venture would be guitarist Steve Massa, MELODICA and NORWAY bassist Joe Slattery, keyboard player Laura Diamond and the MELODICA, ACTIVE and NORWAY credited drummer Marty Brasington.
Gerhard Pilcher joined THE LADDER, featuring ex-FM members Steve Overland and Pete Jupp, for their 2007 album 'Sacred'.
