Biography

AOR obscurities MAGNUM released their debut record in 1983, noteworthy for being produced by the DAKOTA duo of Jerry Hludzik and Bill Kelly. The band's line-up at the time of release featured vocalist / keyboard player Tommy Zito and bassist Butch Samolewicz. This duo was replaced by a new singer, Robert Mason, and Rory Castellano respectively by the time 'No Secrets' surfaced in 1988 (which included a cover of HUGHES/THRALL's 'I Got Your Number'). Zito wound up in the last incarnation of New York act AVIATOR.

Mason formed THE PACT and later joined ex-DOKKEN guitarist GEORGE LYNCH's outfit LYNCH MOB. After a spell with SILENT WITNESS he went onto front CRY OF LOVE. Mason was fleetingly singer for RATT in 2000.

Robert Mason made headlines in mid 2005 by way of a partnership with ex-KING KOBRA guitarist David Michael Phillips and a new album 'Year Of The Cock' credited to BIG COCK. Meantime, MAGNUM re-united for a one off show on 26th November at the Sterling Hotel Rockroom in Allentown.
