Biography

Melodic Rock mob formed by ex-KING KOBRA and SIGNAL vocalist MARK FREE with Bruce Gowdy of STONE FURY and WORLD TRADE, Guy Allison of WORLD TRADE, drummer Jay Schellen of HURRICANE and bassist Larry Antonino. The debut 1992 album was produced by the esteemed figure of Beau Hill.

A second album was recorded under the new name of TWELVE POUND SLEDGE and this would subsequently be released as a Free solo album in 1995 through German label Long Island. By the time of its release the singer was living as a woman, changing his/her name to MARCIE FREE and intent on sex change surgery. Meantime, Jay Schellen had long since joined ex-ACCEPT and BANGALORE CHOIR singer David Reece in SIRCLE OF SILENCE.

UNRULY CHILD surfaced once more in 1998 comprising of Gowdy, Schellan and Kelly Hansen. Although no longer official members of the band both Antonio and Allison also contribute as does ex-BAD ENGLISH man Ricky Phillips.

Schellen contributed to the 2000 album by AIR PAVILION. Mid 2001 saw a reforging of links between Gowdy and Allison for a fresh project, fronted by MAGDALEN vocalist Phillip Bardowell, initially entitled MAC BETH. However, this new unit would soon be announced as a revamp of UNRULY CHILD. Meantime PHILLIP BARDOWELL announced the issue of a 2002 solo album, 'In A Perfect World', produced by Bruce Gowdy and with contributions from Guy Allison. A further solo outing, 'In The Cut' produced by TOMMY DENANDER, arrived in 2005. Jay Schellen hooked up with Prog-AOR veterans ASIA in August 2005.
