TURA SATANA

Biography

Media darling and Metal Rapper TAIRRIE B. originally came to attention via a solo deal and her 1987 record 'The Power Of A Woman'. Two singles were released in 1990 by major label MCA Records 'Swingin' Wit 'T'' and 'Murder She Wrote', the latter breaking into the lower reaches of the British charts. She also featured in SUGERTOOTH. By the mid 90's the songstress was back in charge of her new act MANHOLE comprising of guitarist Scott Ueda, bassist Rico Villasenor and drummer Marcelo Palomeno.

Forced to change their name from MANHOLE, after discovering a Texan band with prior claim to the moniker the Tairrie B. led Los Angeles based outfit adopted TURA SATANA in honour of the actress of the same name who appeared in Russ Meyer's movie 'Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill!' amongst others. As TURA SATANA they would re-debut with 'Relief Through Release'. The album featured a cover of NIRVANA's 'Negative Creep'.

With TURA SATANA's profile rising Noise Records re-issued the MANHOLE album of 1996 'All Is Not Well' repackaged as TURA SATANA.

Ueda, splitting from TURA SATANA, launched his new act CHOPSHOP, fronted by vocalist Gong, in late 1997. TURA SATANA, with new ex-SPITKISS guitarist Brian Harrah, toured Britain in early 1998 with guests WILL HAVEN and PSYCORE prior to European shows with guests PITCHSHIFTER.

By 2000 Tairrie B. was fronting MY RUIN. However the Tairrie B / Harrah / Villasenor / Palomino axis would unite once again for a one off live gig at Hollywood's Troubadour venue on January 18th 2002.

Ex-TURA SATANA guitarist Brian Harrah shot to prominence in August 2005, when former DAMAGEPLAN singer / HALFORD and DIESEL MACHINE guitarist Patrick Lachman unveiled his new band THE MERCY CLINIC, featuring Harrah alongside guitarist Josh Stinson from DRIST, bassist Steed Najera of TRIPLE SEVEN and the COMES WITH THE FALL, DANZIG and JERRY CANTRELL credited drummer Bevan Davies.
