Biography

Los Angeles based Heavy Metal band originally entitled RATTLESHACK. Both MONSTER men bassist Mark Behn and guitarist Mick Zane were previously band mates in MALICE. Drummer Pete Holmes bashed the skins for BLACK N' BLUE and all three had known each other back in Portland, Oregon where both groups were originally from. In fact, Behn and Holmes had played together previously in KHARMA.

MALICE and BLACK N' BLUE split up at around the same time, Behn and Zane deciding to snare the highly rated Holmes before another band offered him a gig. Working as a trio for around two and a half years the band drafted the PANTHER, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and KUNI credited JEFF SCOTT SOTO to work up demos. However, Soto declined to join the project on a full time basis and MONSTER finally recruited a vocalist in the form of Mark Isham from New York, having auditioned around 100 other frontmen with no success.

Prior to the release of the Max Norman produced MONSTER debut album, 1995's 'Through The Eyes Of The World', both Behn and Holmes had been moonlighting recording demos with ex DEEP PURPLE vocalist IAN GILLAN during 1995. The album notably still included the original backing vocals from JEFF SCOTT SOTO.
