Los Angeles based Christian supergroup project formed by ex-JOSHUA and SHOUT frontman Ken Tamplin with erstwhile GIUFFRIA and HOUSE OF LORDS guitarist Lanny Cordola. Cordola invited HOUSE OF LORDS colleague Ken Mary into the band to fill the drum stool and HOUSE OF LORDS vocalist JAMES CHRISTIAN makes a guest appearence into the bargain.

Bassist Brian Bromberg's previous credits include a stint with BIG NEWS JAZZMEN, whilst keyboardist Kim Bullard was once of CHOPPER and Y KANT TORI READ. Tamplin left the group after 'The Big Bang' debut, leaving Cordola to recruit vocalist PHILIP BARDOWELL in his place and also enlisting former HOUSE OF LORDS colleague, the well travelled Chuck Wright, on bass.

The third release, the six song deep 'The Dirt', found MAGDALEN experimenting heavily with acoustic instrumentation.Two of the album's tracks are surprising covers of BLACK SABBATH's 'War Pigs' and BOB MARLEY's 'Redemption Song'.

During 2001 Bardowell would find time to busy himself with an extracurricular band project entitled MAC BETH in alliance with erstwhile UNRULY CHILD members guitarist Bruce Gowdy and keyboard player Guy Allison. He would then engage in solo work, releasing a 2002 album, 'In A Perfect World', produced by UNRULY CHILD guitarist Bruce Gowdy. Bardowell's 2005 follow up, 'In The Cut' released through the Italian label Frontiers, was produced by RADIOACTIVE guitarist TOMMY DENANDER.
