JO JO GUNNE

Biography

Created in 1971 by the Andes brothers Matthew and Mark, the latter having been a member of SPIRIT together with vocalist JAY FERGUSON, JO JO GUNNE plied a distinctive brand of hard rockin' southern boogie.

Mark Andes departed lured away once more by SPIRIT after the debut having his bass role filled by Jimmie Randall. 1974's 'So Where's The Show' had another SPIRIT member guitarist John Staehley supplanting Matthew Andes who performed a straight swap into SPIRIT.

Following the fourth album JO JO GUNNE disbanded with Ferguson going solo. He was to score an American hit in 1978 with the track 'Thunder Island' which peaked at number 9 in the Billboard charts. His solo work, including collaborations with EAGLES / JAMES GANG frontman JOE WALSH, ranged over five albums 'All Alone In The End Zone' in 1976, 'Thunder Island' in 1978, 'Real Life Ain't This Easy' in 1979 for Asylum Records and 'Terms And Conditions' in 1980 and finally 1982's 'White Noise' for Capitol Records.

The solitary JO JO GUNNE hit 'Run, Run, Run' would be later covered by British female rockers GIRLSCHOOL.

Mark Andes joined the multi platinum HEART in 1982 after a lengthy stint with FIREFALL and enjoyed a great deal of success throughout the 70's and 80's with both outfits.
