Biography
An individual heavily influenced by LED ZEPPELIN and vocalist Robert Plant in particular, Michael White was plying his trade in ZEP covers band THE WHITE until being signed by Atlantic and placed into a recording studio with QUEEN and BILLY SQUIER producer Mack for a debut album release in 1987.
Heavily influenced by R&B as much as CREAM, LED ZEPPELIN and JIMI HENDRIX, White's musical career began with a position in FELIX and then played in an Los Angeles outfit by the name of THE BOYZ alongside would be DOKKEN men George Lynch and Mick Brown. After quitting THE BOYZ, White played with guitarist Randy Piper in L.A. ROCKS before the group split and Piper joined W.A.S.P.
White then found himself in the ranks of LONDON (during the same period Nikki Sixx of MÖTLEY CRÜE fame had been in the group) before being kicked out due to his refusal to adopt all the Glam trappings the position required.
Following his dismissal from LONDON in 1979, Michael formed the aforementioned THE WHITE and went through a number of personnel changes over the next few years. At one time the rhythm section of Gene Stout (bass) and ex-MOXY drummer Danny Bilan played in the band. The pair had previously played together in the Canadian outfit RECKLESS.
THE WHITE toured extensively throughout North America before word got to Atlantic A&R man Phil Carson, by coincidence a man with strong Zeppelin and Plant connections, about Michael's prowess as a vocalist and the singer was offered a solo deal that led to the man recording in Munich, Germany with producer Mack.
Although uncredited on the album, the musicians who assisted White in recording the album included old cohorts Piper and Bilan, BILLY SQUIER men Alan St. Jon on keyboards and Bobby Chouinard on the drums and former THE WHITE bassist Scott Gaines. Unfortunately, the album failed to sell and what little media attention there was focused on the obvious Plant similarities. White was to eventually resurrect THE WHITE and record an independently released album in the early 90's.
