Biography

Greenville, Dallas, Texas Metalcore band dating to December 1999. The early version of the band would suffer from a fluid line-up but did release two independent EPs. In March of 2003 the band entered the studio to record their second five song EP, entitled 'Silenced No More' with producer D. Braxton Henry. At this juncture JACKNIFE comprised vocalist Joe Ortiz, guitarists Mike Warren and Steve Pruett, ex-LESSERKNOWNGOD, DEVOURMENT and DAEMON bass player Joseph J. Fontenot and ex-LESSERKNOWNGOD drummer Tommy Crooks, the latter having replaced Billy Lomax. In July of 2004, whilst recording the 'Today We Fight' sessions, Fontenot left, but soon returned to the fold.

JACKNIFE's September 2005 album 'Moment Of Reckoning' emerged via Zero-Sum Records, a newly established label founded by Metal industry veterans DROWNING POOL, DAMAGEPLAN and LOSA manager Paul Bass man and Chris Paluska, co-manager of LOSA and former tour manager for DAMAGEPLAN. Bassist Joseph J. Fontenot exited in August, citing "family obligations", and was replaced by ex-BLOODTIES man Chris Patterson. Another loss would be drummer Tommy Crooks, opting out in late December.

JACKNIFE toured throughout the Winter of 2005 alongside IT DIES TODAY, STILL REMAINS, SCARS OF TOMORROW and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE before securing January dates with DEAD TO FALL and ION DISSONANCE. The group installed new drummer Josh Montano, of CREMATORIUM, and WAR WITHIN, for these gigs. February of 2006 saw US gigs partnered with DRYLINE. July shows were backed by THE AUTUMN OFFERING, CLIFTON and BURN IN SILENCE.
