Biography
Incredibly gifted vocalist from the hometown of another Rock legend Ronnie James Dio. West has been a member of BADLANDS, ARTENSION, MICHAEL LEE FIRKINS BAND and latterly Sweden's melodic Rock outfit ROYAL HUNT. The singer was also working on a proposed project with esteemed drummer COZY POWELL prior to his untimely death. These latter recordings surfaced as the Japanese release 'Especially For You'. Other recordings involving Powell would also incorporate JUDAS PRIEST guitarist GLENN TIPTON and THE WHO bassist John Entwistle.
1996 West had fronted SAINTS AND SINNERS. Although the band never got off the ground the line-up included four former WHITESNAKE members drummer COZY POWELL, bassist Neil Murray and guitarists BERNIE MARSDEN and MICKY MOODY.
West's debut solo album, May 1997's 'Mind Journey' released through Shrapnel Records, features guitar from George Bellas, better known for his role in MOGG/WAY. In down time between projects West toured America with a band including ARTENSION drummer Mike Terrana (now with RAGE) and SAVATAGE guitarist Chris Caffrey.
The 1998 solo album 'Permanent Mark', again issued on Shrapnel, sees guitar from EDWIN DARE man Jeff Kollman, coincidentally guitarist on the second MOGG/WAY album. West also put in a showing with LYNCH MOB, stepping in to fulfil live dates when Robert Mason pulled out. 2001 would find West fronting live shows in America for DAVID 'ROCK' FEINSTEIN. West would also reconvene the classic ARTENSION line-up for a comeback album 'Sacred Pathway'.
In early 2002 it would be announced that West had taken time out from ROYAL HUNT's schedule to assemble the 'Earth Maker' album project, a concept piece based on the journeys of the Native American mythical spirit Shenandoah. This heavyweight alliance saw West teamed up with the HALFORD triumvirate of guitarist MIKE CHLASIAK, bassist Ray Riendau and drummer Bobby Jarzombek, ARTENSION bassist Kevin Chown and the SAVATAGE duo of guitarist Chris Caffrey and Jeff Plate. Session guests in the studio included ROYAL HUNT's own ANDRE ANDERSEN and ARTENSION colleague VITALIJ KUPRIJ.
West issued a new album through Frontiers Records in June 2006. 'Long Time... No Sing' included contributions from SAVATAGE players guitarist CHRIS CAFFERY and drummer Jeff Plate, guitarist Kevin Hampton and keyboard player Lonnie Park.
