Biography
A former member of American Pop band IDES OF MARCH, who scored singles success in the late 60's and early 70's with the singles 'You Wouldn't Listen', 'Vehicle' and 'Superman'. Chicago native Jim Peterik finally recorded a solo album in 1977 before finding fame and fortune as the mastermind behind SURVIVOR.
Departing from SURVIVOR in the late 90's Peterik issued the 'World Stage' album in 2000. If featured a host of name friends and associates. The opening track 'Fade To Blue' and 'Changed By Love' were written by Peterik for .38 SPECIAL's 'Resolution' album and the revised versions features .38 SPECIAL's Don Barnes on vocals. JOHNNY VAN ZANT of LYNYRD SKYNYRD sings 'Can't Say It Loud Enough', STYX singer DENNIS DE YOUNG handles 'To Miss Somebody' and REO SPEEDWAGON's Kevin Cronin takes the ballad 'Between Two Fires'.
The track 'Zig Zag' features the CHEAP TRICK duo of guitarist Rick Neilson and drummer Bun E. Carlos with vocals from CINDERELLA's Tom Keifer.
Blues legend BUDDY GUY duets on guitar with Peterik on the old hit 'Vehicle'. NIGHT RANGER's Kelly Keagy contributes to 'Long Road Home' while BLACKHAWK and ex-OUTLAWS man Henry Paul donates his services to 'Til It Shines'. The song 'Antenna', featuring vocals from Margaret Becker, is co-written with RICK CUA. Peterik also reworks his biggest hit SURVIVOR's 'Eye Of The Tiger' with vocals from Jeff Boyle.
Peterik also produced the debut MECCA album the same year. The band featured vocalist Joe Vana and guitarist Mike Aquino, also contributors to the 'World Stage' album. The industrious guitarist also found space to session on KELLY KEAGY's 2001 solo record.
In early 2002 Peterik would donate his songwriting skills to the comeback album for Pop Rock veterans STARSHIP and to the debut album for AORsters KHYMERA, contributing four tunes 'Living With A Memory', 'Say It With Love', 'Tears On The Page' and 'Aftertouch'.
The 2002 album 'Rock America- Smash Hits Live!', released by the Italian Frontiers label, was recorded live in St. Charles, Illinois during January of 2000 and features many of the same star names that graced the previous studio effort.
During 2003 Peterik founded the PRIDE OF LIONS studio project, working with the relatively unknown singer Toby Hitchcock. Peterik contributed his song writing talents to ex-UNRULY CHILD singer PHILIP BARDOWELL's 2005 'In The Cut' album. Later that same year Peterik engaged in recording the solo album 'Above The Storm', this opus featuring songs co-written with Johnny Van Zant of LYNYRD SKYNYRD and Donnie Van Zant of 38 SPECIAL. Studio musicians included the PRIDE OF LIONS collective Mike Aquino on guitar, Klem Hayes on bass, Christian Cullen on keyboards with Ed Breckenfeld on drums. 'Above The Storm' would be set for a March 2006 release.
