Biography

Chicago's BIRD OF PREY, announced in early 2005 and self-described as "'70s heavy rock with 21st century metal tendencies", is led by vocalist Kyle Michaels, a scene veteran citing credits with MASI, ANIMAL, the GEEZER BUTLER BAND, RAVAGE the DAVID SHANKLE GROUP and ROSEWATER. For this project he would be joined by guitarist Andrew Haller, bassist Danny Weymouth and former PIVOTMAN and SUPERMERCADO percussionist Gregg Potter. BIRD OF PREY was actually a resurrection of a band name Michaels had fronted, comprising ex-ARMORED SAINT personnel, during the eighties. BIRD OF PREY inaugurated guitarist JIMI BELL in June of 2005, a seasoned adept of the GEEZER BUTLER BAND, THUNDERHEAD and WAYNE. However, Bell exited shortly afterward to join HOUSE OF LORDS.

A brand new version of BIRD OF PREY was assembled in mid 2006 comprising Michaels, guitarists Andrew Haller and Matt Mercado, from Chicago's MINDBOMB and SUPERMERCADO, bassist Danny Weymouth with Gregg Potter on drums. Album sessions saw compositions donated by Jon Oliva of SAVATAGE, Joe Floyd of WARRIOR and Jack Frost. In addition, the singer also collaborated on recordings with the TRANS SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA.

The band unit morphed once again in December, inducting the RADAKKA and SLICK credited drummer Dean Maltese and guitarist JACK FROST, a man boasting credits with SAVATAGE, SEVEN WITCHES, THE BRONX CASKET CO., FROSTBITE, METALIUM and MARSHALL LAW. In March 2007 it was learned that Frost was collaborating with ATTACKER frontman Bob Mitchell on new material for a Heavy Metal covers project dubbed FM, cutting versions of tracks by UFO, GILLAN, ACCEPT and JUDAS PRIEST branded 'Assylum Of Metal'.

Frost added to his wealth of high profile credentials by appearing as second guitarist with LIZZY BORDEN at the April 28th 2007 Metal Blade Records 25th Anniversary Showcase at the New England Metal And Hardcore Festival.
