BANISHED was previously known as BAPHOMET for their 1992 album 'The Dead Shall Inherit'. BAPHOMET's 1990 demo secured the band a deal with English label Peaceville Records. The band evolved quickly into BANISHED when threatened by legal action from the German BAPHOMET.

The 1993 7" single, released through the Peaceville Collectors club, included the banned artwork originally thought to be too obscene for the 'Deliver Me Unto Pain' album cover.
