Biography

Blues Rockers fronted by respected guitarist MIKE PINERA in 1966. The initial line up saw Pinera flanked by Welshman Malcolm Jones on bass with the novelty of two drummers Joe Lala and Manuel Bertematti. BLUES IMAGE pulled in keyboard player Frank 'Skip' Konte for the debut 1969 album.

Following second effort 'Open', released in 1970, Pinera opted out to join platinum proto- Metal band IRON BUTTERFLY. He would also gain production credits on early BLACK OAK ARKANSAS material. His career would later trace it's way through RAMATAM, NEW CACTUS BAND and ALICE COOPER before going solo.

The band replaced Pinera with Kent Henry and added vocalist Dennis Correll for 1970's 'Red, White & Blues Image' but this proved to be the band's swansong. Henry joined STEPPENWOLF. Lala journeyed through MANASSAS, CROSBY, STILLS, NASH & YOUNG and also became part of JOE WALSH's band. Konte teamed up with THREE DOG NIGHT whilst Bertematti had a stint in the NEW CACTUS BAND. Other members created MANNA.

Southern Rockers BLACKFOOT cut a version of the BLUES IMAGE track 'Pay My Dues' for their 1979 album 'Strikes'.
