Founded as a side project by guitarist Pat Thrall and ex SANTANA drummer Michael Shrieve whilst the pair were playing with Steve Winwood in Stomu Yamashta's GO, the multi-racial AUTOMATIC MAN gained a deal with Island Records before going their separate ways.

Whilst Thrall would team up with PAT TRAVERS and later formed HUGHES/THRALL in the early 80s with erstwhile DEEP PURPLE man GLENN HUGHES, Shrieve later recorded with NOVO COMBO and H.S.A.S. More recently the drummer has worked with ex SANTANA / H.S.A.S. colleague NEAL SCHON (better known for his pivotal role as guitarist in JOURNEY) in ABRAXAS POOL.

Doni Harvey later formed the band HARVEY with his two brothers, releasing a mini album, 'A-Live', in 1981.

Thrall has also had a stint in ASIA and contributes guitar to MEAT LOAF's 'Bat Out Of Hell II' blockbuster.
