Biography

Heavy Stoner outfit founded by erstwhile WHITE ZOMBIE guitarist Tom Five (real name Tom Guay). The band is a renowned force on the American underground scene not only involving the man who many believe to be the real creative force behind WHITE ZOMBIE but also the illustrious figure of bassist Gyda Gash, a lady who came as near to total burn out as possible and staying alive. Gash's NYC Punk lifestory has been well documented. Musically she has been involved with MOTHER SUPERIOR, the TOMBOYS (releasing the "cult" single 'I Kill With My Cunt'), the transexual fronted TRANSISTORS and MARIA EX COMMUNICATA. She has also acted out the role of WENDY O'WILLIAMS in a PLASMATICS cover band so successfully the act was invited to perform at the O'Williams tribute concert.

ANGEL ROT came about when Tom Five was fired from WHITE ZOMBIE following their 'Soulcrusher' opus. Initially bass player Mike Davis and drummer Steve Kleiner made up the numbers. Auditions were held for a vocalist but this eneavour proved fruitless so Tom Five adopted the role. Scott Octane of HIGHER OCTANE would eventually land the drummer's role.

Commercially ANGEL ROT debuted with a brace of 1991 singles 'Screwdriver' and 'Necrostrangle', issued on Buzz Osbourne of THE MELVINS quaintly titled Fuck You Records. The 'Unlistenable Hymns Of Indulgent Damage' album, mastered by Sal Canzonieri of ELECTRIC FRANKENSTEIN, was originally recorded in 1993. Issued in limited numbers in 1995 it was picked up for re-release by Man's Ruin in 1999. The album, laced with esoteric double entendres and Lovecraftian themes, has found a ready new audience in the brave new Stoner world.

With tongues firmly in cheek ANGEL ROT appease misconceptions by opening their live show with JUDAS PRIEST's 'Hell Bent For Leather'. BLACK SABBATH's 'Snowblind' often features in the set as do KISS numbers.
