Biography

ZWAN is the high profile outfit forged by erstwhile SMASHING PUMPKINS mentor Billy Corgan, ex-SMASHING PUMPKINS drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, former CHAVEZ guitarist Matt Sweeney, ex-SLINT guitarist David Pajo, and A PERFECT CIRCLE bassist Paz Lechantin. ZWAN shifted over 90,000 units of their debut album 'Mary Star Of The Sea' to pitch in at no. 3 on the Billboard album charts. In a somewhat surprising move the single 'Honestly' included a B side cover version of IRON MAIDEN's 'Number Of The Beast'. Even odder, ZWAN went out on tour as support to IRON MAIDEN.

The band members, allied with cellist Anna Lenchantin, revealed plans for an acoustic folk project DJALI ZWAN, set to record a live DVD, as an adjunct to their main activities. Paz Lenchantin decamped in August of 2003, prioritising her PAPA M project, co-founded by ZWAN guitarist David Pajo. BILLY CORGAN cut a solo album, entitled 'TheFutureEmbrace', for June 2005 release on Warner Bros. Records.
