Biography

Vinnie Moore was one of a number of so dubbed 'New Guitar Masters' heavily promoted by Shrapnel Records svengali Mike Varney and proclaimed as the next sensation. Moore actually made his public debut in a TV commercial in which his guitar chops literally blew the tops off Pepsi bottles!

Born in Delaware, Moore picked up the guitar at the age of 12. Moore joined his first band at the age of 15 and wound up playing covers in local clubs before recording a home-made demo tape that was swiftly dispatched to Mike Varney. Blown away by what he heard Varney wisely persuaded Moore to first get involved as part of a band unit, and the young six stringer first came to serious attention with his contributions to the debut VICIOUS RUMORS album 'Soldiers Of The Night' in 1985.

Moore would only supply his guitar talents to the one VICIOUS RUMORS album, Varney feeling the time was right for him to gather material for a solo album.

Moore's inaugural solo work, 'Mind's Eye', had the guitarist working alongside fellow rising guitar maestro TONY MACALPINE (although the six stringer performed keyboards on the album), DIXIE DREGS and TIMMY bassist Andy West and veteran OZZY OSBOURNE, WHITESNAKE and BLACK OAK ARKANSAS drummer Tommy Aldridge.

For 1988's 'Time Odyssey' former GOOD RATS and TWISTED SISTER drummer Joe Franco was enrolled together with bassist Michael Bean and ex SPEEDWAY BOULEVARD keyboard player Jordan Rudes. The record was released on Peter Mensch and Cliff Burnstein's Squawk label.

'Meltdown' found Moore on Epic and working with bassist Greg Smith and, for a second album in succession, drummer Joe Franco. SASS JORDAN and CHINA RAIN man Brian Tichy laid down drums on 1996's 'Out Of Nowhere' album.

Moore's talents were spotted by veteran gore merchant ALICE COOPER as the guitarist joined his 'Hey Stoopid' world tour.

Moore cut a joint studio album with TONY MACALPINE in 2000. By mid 2003 Moore was being strongly tipped to have succeeded Michael Schenker as the new guitarist for veteran British Rockers UFO.

After recording UFO's 'The Monkey Puzzle' record, Moore cut a fresh solo album in October 2006, working with drummer Van Romaine at at Spin Studios in Queens, New York. During UFO's March 2007 European dates Vinnie Moore scheduled a number of Engl guitar clinics.
