TYKETTO

Biography

Fronted by ex-D.O.A. and WAYSTED vocalist Danny Vaughn, TYKETTO came exceptionally close to breaking into the major league with their 'Don't Come Easy' album. TYKETTO's Richie Zito produced 1991 debut, featuring keyboard contributions by Alan Pasqua, was more than a match for any major league American rock contender containing numerous songs that should by rights have been major hits. Although a huge favourite on the AOR scene 'Don't Come Easy' strangely failed to make an impression on the charts.

The band first hit Britain opening for then management stable mates WHITE LION in 1991. UK headline dates in July of 1994, promoting the 'Strength In Numbers' album, saw New Jersey's SHOTGUN SYMPHONY as support. Friction began to show as bassist Jimi Kennedy lost his place to Jamie Scott and vocalist Steve Augeri, formerly with the New York outfit TALL STORIES, made his entrance with 1995's 'Shine'.

With rumours that the group had reformed, throughout 1998 the situation with TYKETTO remained unclear. It was certainly known that Michael Clayton and Danny Vaughn were working together again after the drummer had previously expressed an interest in working with Danny Vaughn on the singer's mooted solo project.

Still, although Brooke St James was announced as the new guitarist in British Traditional Metal band LIONSHEART, it was believed that TYKETTO would record a new album together very much in the vein of the debut album. It was unclear as to whether bassist Jamie Scott would be involved.

Augeri was enticed away to front probably the biggest AOR band of them all- JOURNEY. 2000 found Vaughn, Scott and Clayton in a new act titled simply VAUGHN and the 'Soldiers And Sailors On Riverside' album. Joining the ex-TYKETTO trio was guitarist P.J. Zitarosa and keyboard player Kyle Cummings.

The classic line up of Danny Vaughn, Michael Clayton, Jimi Kennedy and Brooke St James reformed for European dates in November of 2004. UK shows saw DEADLINE and TEER as support. Vaughn would also be active fronting a brand new melodick Rock project FROM THE INSIDE.
