Biography

Not to be confused with the Chicago thrashers of the same name that evolved into SINDROME. The Texan DEVESTATION specialised in intense Thrash metal. The 'Violent Termination' debut album was released on its own Zombo Records in 1987. The band bolstered their live sound for the 'Signs Of Life' album, issued through Combat Records, by adding second guitarist Henry Elizondo. Drummer Louis Carrisalez quit in mid 1990, later turned up fronting DEATH for a short spell on a British tour with KREATOR in 1990 when vocalist / guitarist Chuck Schuldiner was unable to fulfill the dates. His place was taken by David Lozano for the 'Idolatry' album but the band had reinstated Carrisalez by the time they played the Milwaukee Metalfest.

DEVASTATION reunited in 2008 consisting of Rodney Dunsmore on vocals, Henry Elizondo on guitar, Alex Dominguez on bass and former ROTTING CORPSE and DEATH member Walter Trachsler on guitar along with newly recruited drummer Fidel Tagle from Texas metal outfit KILLAMORA. Their first step was to record three new songs for the reissue of its 1991 'Idolatry' album. A brand new track, 'Blood for Blood', was laid down along with newly reworked versions of 'Desolation' and 'Tomorrow We Die', both off 1989's 'Signs of Life' record. This re-issue surfaced on 30th September on both CD and vinyl via Rockadrome Records subsidiary Forged in Fire.

On the live front, DEVASTATION played their first-ever show on UK soil in London at Bar Monsta on 22nd October 22 sharing the stage with MUTANT, THE MORE I SEE and BLOODSHOT DAWN.  DEVASTATION's U.S. tour with SOULFLY then started 1st November through to 26th November alongside fellow supports BLEED THE SKY and INCITE.

Headline US dates in January 2009, dubbed the 'Texas Metal Massacre' tour, partnered with the reunited MILITIA and TEXAS METAL ALLIANCE.
