Biography

Sharing management (Loud And Proud) with WHITE LION and TYKETTO, Memphis' TORA TORA debuted with the critically acclaimed 'Surprise Attack' in 1990 after first appearing on the 'Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure' soundtrack album with 'Dancing With A Gypsy'.

Formed in the mid 80's by vocalist Anthony Corder and guitarist Keith Douglas this duo was joined by ex-LICHEN THORPE bassist Patrick Francis and drumming colleague John Patterson and first rehearsed in a glue factory owned by the drummer's father.

The band won two days of studio time at Ardent Studios in Memphis after winning a local talent contest. After recording an embryonic version of 'Phantom Rider' used prize money they'd also received as part of the prize package to record five more songs to create a cassette only EP entitled 'To Rock, To Roll'.

After recording a new selection of songs A&M Records picked up on the band and offered them a deal in June 1988 and also hooked up with the aforementioned Loud And Proud management stable. The group toured with L.A. GUNS, DANGEROUS TOYS, BONHAM and THE CULT in the wake of the debut album's release in 1989.

A second album, 'Wild America', was released in 1992, having first begun recording in March 1991. Bassist Patrick Francis subsequently founded RAIL in union with ex-ROXY BLUE singer and SALIVA drummer Todd Poole.

TORA TORA resurfaced in 2000 when Corder and Francis resurrected the name in a union with ex-JIMI JAMISON'S SURVIVOR men guitarist Hal McCormack and drummer Tony Gravier with keyboard player Joe 'Boogie' Hamond. 2004 found Anthony Corder fronting Southern styled, acoustic Rockers UPRISIN.
