Biography

Proudly making a stand for classic epic Heavy Metal, Pittsburgh based ICARUS WITCH was manifested by bassist Sin (a.k.a. Jason Myers). Upon his relocation from Los Angeles to his hometown Sin allied himself with erstwhile INVID, ENDLESS and GUTRENCH drummer Keith Hurka in a union initially billed as FUNERAL WINE. Matthew Bizilia took up the role of lead vocalist whilst guitar duties were delegated to George Sabol. In this formation ICARUS WITCH donated their rendition of 'Falling Off The Edge Of The World' to the 2004 Cleopatra Records BLACK SABBATH tribute album 'Evil Lives: A True Metal Tribute To Black Sabbath'.

ICARUS WITCH then underwent a membership shake up, being stabilised by the addition of ex-WHITE ROSES guitarist STEVE POLLICK and the PRO-PAIN, SOULBENT, GONEMAD and PAINGOD credited J.C. Dywer on drums as ex-member Keith Hurka joined BUILT UPON FRUSTRATION. Pollick had already carved himself a reputation on the Pennsylvania Metal scene with the release of three solo albums 'Prince Of Thieves', 'Trials Of Egypt' and 'Trilogy'.

The band's next move was to craft a cover of ALICE COOPER's 'Roses On White Lace'. During these sessions, working with PRO-PAIN guitarist Eric Klinger as producer, the band cut a further three original compositions plus an instrumental for an intended demo. However, Magick Records picked the tapes up for a full blown commercial EP release. ICARUS WITCH cut a second version of 'Roses On White Lace' for inclusion on the Magick Records release 'Welcome To The Nightmare: An All-Star Salute To Alice Cooper'. This version featured SYMPHONY X guitarist Michael Romeo as studio guest.

The October 2005 album, 'Capture The Magic', included a guest appearance from former FATES WARNING guitarist Frank Aresti on the track 'The Ghost Of Xavior Holmes' plus GEORGE LYNCH on a cover version of OZZY OSBOURNE's 'S.A.T.O.'The ICARUS WITH line-up for these sessions comprised Myers, Bizilia, Pollick and drummer John Passarelli. Cover artwork was by Garry Sharpe-Young.

In January 2006 the band launched a Mats Lundberg directed promotional video for the title track Capture The Magic', featuring an appearance by former adult film star Jasmin St. Claire.

ICARUS WITCH added second guitarist Quinn Lukas in May. Early 2007 found the band in a Pittsburgh studio with producer Eric Klinger recording tracks for a second album. 'Songs For The Lost' emerged through Cleopatra Records in September. This set included a cover rendition of DEF LEPPARD's 'Mirror Mirror' featuring former RAINBOW and DEEP PURPLE singer JOE LYNN TURNER as vocal guest. The group roster on this album involved Myers, Bizilia, Pollick, Lukas and drummer Jerry Jameson, a scene veteran of NUNSLAUGHTER, FUTURETENSE, BIRD OF PREY and ORDER OF NINE. Subsequently Chris Batton took over on drums.
