Biography

SATHANAS date back to 1988 and the 'Ripping Evil' demo session. However, SATAHANAS folded various as members joined ACHERON whilst Tucker founded BATHYM for the 1990 'Into Darkness' demo and the 7" single 'Demonic Force'. By 1994 Tucker was ready to resurrect SATHANAS pulling in bassist Bill Davidson and drummer Jim Baker. A series of false starts with various labels going bankrupt after deals had been struck for the 'Black Earth' album eventually led to Alex Kurtagic's Conquistador label for release of the 'Armies Of Charon' album.

A split album 'Destroying All Hopes' was shared with CHRISTIAN CARRION. Baker would decamp leaving Davidson to put down drums on a track included on a free CD given away with 'Pit' magazine. SATHANAS pulled in drummer Dr. Vent in 2001. Earlier that year Blackmetal.com Records had issued both the previously ill fated 'Black Earth' album and 'Thy Dark Heavens'. French label Drakkar kept the momentum building with the release of 'Cruentus Diabolico' and Dutch concern Displeased Records put out 'Jaws Of Satan', a collection of early SATHANAS demos, rehearsals and live material and BATHYM works. Early 2002 found the band working up songs for a forthcoming album 'Hex Nefarious'. A 7" EP on the Agonia label, 'Warlords Of Death', issued in early 2003 included a cover version of BATHORY's 'Rise The Dead'.

SATHANAS enrolled guitarist Wayne Dudley and ACHERON credited drummer Jim Strauss in May of 2004. A new EP, 'Psalm 666', was projected for release through Stilldead Productions. The band recorded a cover of BATHORY's 'Reaper' for a tribute album entitled 'A Tribute From The Hordes To Bathory' released by Black Goat Productions. In November of that year Strauss briefly rejoined his former ACHERON colleagues as stand in for the 'Conquer Records Winter 2004' festivals in Poland.

SATHANAS entered Innertube studios in November 2006 to cut tracks for the album 'Crowned Infernal'. Other releases included the previously unreleased 'Hex Nefarious' sessions of 2001 saw issue through Death to Mankind Records. Iron Pegasus also issued a vinyl version of the band's 2005 opus 'Entering The Diabolic Trinity' on orange vinyl with exclusive cover art by Kris Verwimp, limited to 666 copies.

In January 2007 SATHANAS announced they were to participate on a four-way split CD in collaboration with Sweden's BESTIAL MOCKERY, Virginia's CRUCIFER, and Poland's THRONEUM through Time Before Time Records. The following month Pagan Records issued the mini-album 'Flesh For The Devil'.

In April 2009 Paul Tucker announced that he was reforming the BATHYM project alongside original members Eric Watson and Bill Smiley filling the bass and drum positions, respectively.
