Biography

TERRIF was a Hard Rock act assembled by ex-ANGEL vocalist Frank Dimino in the mid 80s following his first post ANGEL act THE RUFFIANS had disintegrated.

Moving to Portland, Oregon, Dimino put a new group, TERRIFF together, featuring guitarist Joe Holmes, bassist Emil Lech Brando and drummer Tom Cosmo. Another Demos were recorded before Dimino, frustrated at the lack of progress, moved back to Los Angeles. Dimino and his former ANGEL colleagues Punky Meadows and Barry Brandt united again in late 1985 in an attempt to resurrect ANGEL.

Lech promptly joined SOUND BARRIER before stints with JOSHUA for their 'Speed Of Light' record and by 1989 DRIVER. Holmes meanwhile joined LIZZY BORDEN for their 1987 album 'Visual Lies' before quitting that band to recreate TERRIFF. This second version of the band comprised Holmes, Cosmo, ex-LIZZY BORDEN bassist Mike Davis and vocalist Dana Freebarin. Another TERRIFF credited drummer would be Todd Loomis, of BRUNETTE and SHAKE THE FAITH repute.

TERRIFF folded for good when Holmes landed the job as six-stringer for DAVID LEE ROTH. The guitarist scaled even greater heights when he was inducted into the ranks of the OZZY OSBOURNE band in 1995.

By 2000 Davis was a member of BRANOM, a Los Angeles act comprising of former CLOUD NINE vocalist Tim Branom, ex-BOY ELROY guitarist Brian Davis and erstwhile HERICANE ALICE, BANGALORE CHOIR and BAD MOON RISING drummer Jackie Ramos. The bassist subsequently figured in the live line-up of HALFORD. In early 2005 Davis featured in the multi-national Hard Rock outfit THE COTTON SOETERBOEK BAND, comprising a veteran cast including AYREON singer Robert Soeterboek, guitarist Alan Cotton, Joost van den Broek from AFTER FOREVER and SUN CAGED on Keyboards with SAHARA, ROB ROCK and DRIVER man Reynold 'Butch' Carlson on drums.
