DR. MASTERMIND was a Portland, Oregon project band summoned up by former WILD DOGS drummer Deen Castronovo. The band were set up originally with former FRENCH KISS vocalist Ron Chick as he adopted the nom de plume of Boris Mastermind'. It was, however, to be erstwhile WILD DOGS and MAYHEM vocalist Matt McCourt, (Matthew T. McCourt) originally set to be the producer, going under the revised pseudonym of DR. MASTERMIND that would record vocals on the album. Deen Castronovo also brought in ex-STEELER and DRIVER guitarist Kurt James.

Castronovo later found success with BAD ENGLISH, OZZY OSBOURNE, DAMN YANKEES and JOURNEY. Kurt James would re-emerge in 2001 sessioning in the studio for 'Threat Con Delta', the project assembled by erstwhile ANTHRAX vocalist NEIL TURBIN. In 2006 McCourt and James forged FATT MATT, also involving drummer Bryce van Patten. The self-financed album 'Atomic Thunder', featuring a cover version of ALICE COOPER's 'Elected', arrived in 2006.
