Biography
Project band of DECEASED's King Fowley and guitarist Brian 'Hellstorm' Williams. Forged in 1995 the Fowley / Williams axis laid down the demo tape 'Voyage To Infinity' before inducting bassist Jim Hunter. Still as a trio with Fowley responsible for both lead vocals and drums OCTOBER 31 recorded the debut 'Fire Still Awaits You' album for R.I.P. Records, issued in 1997. This effort caught the ear of hardened Metal collectors with its cover version of WITCHKILLER's 'Day Of The Saxons'. The band also contributed a new track 'The Chosen One' to a compilation 'Metal Injection' for the Bad Posture label.
For the follow up EP 'Visions Of The End', which saw a version of LIZZY BORDEN's 'Give 'Em The Axe', the group added second guitar player Kevin Lewis. Another outing was the IRON MAIDEN cover of 'Public Enema Number One' donated to the Dwell Records tribute 'A Call To Irons'.
The line up remained stable for the next album 'Meet Thy Maker'. As was now becoming tradition an old Metal staple was dusted off, OCTOBER 31 lending new life to SAXON's 'Power And The Glory' on this occasion. The group recruited Chuck Parsons to fulfil live lead vocal duties. A restricted gold vinyl re-issue of Fire Still Awaits You' predictably sold out immediately. Fowley's own Old Metal label had re-released 'Vision Of The End' adding the original demo tracks plus a take on JAG PANZER's 'Harder Than Steel'. The group also made an impression on the Dwell OZZY OSBOURNE tribute collection 'Land Of The Wizard' with 'I Don't Know'.
With the underground word on the band spreading globally Metal Blade Records picked up 'Meet Thy Maker' for European distribution in April of 2000, coupling it with the 'Visions Of The End' material. To promote this release OCTOBER 31 announced the inauguration of new lead singer Shaun Pelata but within weeks this latest member was out of the picture. Pulling in David Castillo of Death Metal band HATRED as drummer, travelled to Germany for an appearance at the world renowned 'Wacken Open Air' festival. After this gig Lewis stepped down.
During February of 2001 TWISTED TOWER DIRE guitarist Scott Waldrop and vocalist Tony Taylor seconded themselves to OCTOBER 31 for recording of the 'Salem's Curse' single, the flip side of which covered JUDAS PRIEST's 'Electric Eye'. By February of the following year Taylor opted out in order to concentrate on his priority act.
As 2002 drew in OCTOBER 31 evolved yet again. With King Fowley as front man, the guitar team now comprised Brian Williams and Jason Tedder with Jim Hunter on bass and David Castillo re-ensconced on drums.
OCTOBER 31's Brian Williams also operates a side project dubbed K-OCTAVE in alliance with vocalist Shawn Pelata, guitarist Jason Tedder, bassist Cliff Paul and drummer Tom Berry. K-OCTAVE issued the 2001 album 'Outer Limits' through Germany's Hellion Records. OCTOBER 31 would spend early 2004 working up a new studio album 'No Survivors'.
