Biography

Charlotte, North Carolina's FIREHOUSE was formed by ex-MAXX WARRIOR members Carl Snare and Perry Richardson. FIREHOUSE quickly outstripped everything the duo's previous band had managed to achieve by establishing itself as one of the leading American Rock bands in the early 90's. FIREHOUSE became one of the last of the 'hair' bands to achieve such widespread acclaim before the onset of the Grunge phenomenon and backlash against anything remotely connected to the 80's.

After having demos produced by Dana Strum and Mark Slaughter from the VINNIE VINCENT INVASION, the quartet signed to Epic Records. WHITE HEAT quickly had to switch to the FIREHOUSE moniker as a Canadian band had just released an album (ironically on Epic's mothership CBS) using the WHITE HEAT name. The band's debut album surpassed expectation quickly attaining platinum status. During 1991 FIREHOUSE toured with WARRANT and TRIXTER as well as European shows opening for STATUS QUO. The band also spent a healthy part of 1992 from February touring throughout America opening for TESLA.

Following a headlining tour of Japan, the quartet toured Europe and Britain opening for STATUS QUO followed by shows in Puerto Rico and South America, staying on the road for a summer '93 tour in America opening for POISON.

FIREHOUSE would then engage Ron Nevison to produce the aptly titled 'III' album after meeting him whilst touring with DAMN YANKEES.

Ill fortune was to halt the band's progress though as America was caught in the grip of grunge and 'III' failed to match its predecessors sales. Nevertheless, both 'III' and it's follow up 'Good Acoustics' notched up gold sales status across the globe in numerous territories.

No longer with their Epic deal, FIREHOUSE returned in 1998 with a new album intended for sale solely through the band's internet site and on tour. Perry Richardson and Michael Foster also established the 3930 label, making the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina based UP SPOOKHILL the first signing.

The latter half of 1998 found FIREHOUSE on the road in America as part of the successful 'The Rock Never Stops' tour alongside QUIET RIOT, L.A. GUNS, WARRANT and SLAUGHTER. Besides road action FIREHOUSE also became embroiled in a bitter legal battle with their former label alledging underpayment of royalties.

The 1998 album was so named after the band suffered the effects of a category 5 hurricane just before recording. Although released in Japan and Asia albums were only available in America and Europe at gigs or over the internet. 2000's FIREHOUSE outing 'O2' featured ex-GREGG ALLMAN bassist Bruce Waibel. FIREHOUSE would be back on the road during the summer of 2002 as part of the 'Metal Edge Rockfest' tour. Kicking off on June 20th at the West Fargo, North Dakota Red River Valley Fair, the two month long string of dates found the band on a co-billing with L.A. GUNS, RATT, DOKKEN and WARRANT. An October gig in Trinidad would see DOKKEN and COSMOSQUAD bassist Barry Sparks stepping in at short notice.

In February of 2003 FIREHOUSE named Dario Seixas, a Brazilian native from from Los Angeles SKID ROW tribute band MONKEY BUSINESS and MADISON PAIGE, as their new bassist. A new album 'Prime Time' arrived in September, sadly the same month former bassist Bruce Waibel was found dead in his Florida home. Meantime FIREHOUSE added another new bass player, Allen McKenzie, in November.

FIREHOUSE lined up a European headline tour in alliance with DANNY VAUGHN and DEADLINE for March of 2004. Summer dates had the band traversing the USA, hooking up with other eighties acts such as SLAUGHTER and GREAT WHITE. That same year Bill Leverty debuted his new solo project album credited to WANDERLUST. Former FIREHOUSE bassist Dario Seixas joined DEF LEPPARD tribute band PYROMANIA in June. The ex-bassist also held positions with the NEIL TURBIN band and RESURRECTION.

Strangely, Greek label SleaszyRider Records announced plans for 2004 tribute album entitled 'Firehouse - All They Wrote' featuring no less than a Death Metal version of 'Helpless' by KINETIC. December witnessed an announcement that FIREHOUSE was to help form up the Summer 2005 'Rock Never Stops' tour in collaboration with CINDERELLA, QUIET RIOT and RATT.

The FIREHOUSE quartet of vocalist / guitarist Damon Kelly, bassist Allen McKenzie, drummer Michael Foster and producer Bill Leverty founded a new band unit entitled ROCKARMA in mid 2005. A high profile bout of US touring saw FIREHOUSE, putting on an acoustic set, teaming up with former RATT frontman STEPHEN PEARCY, DON DOKKEN, ex-WARRANT singer JANI LANE and KIP WINGER for VH1 Classic's 'Metal Mania: Stripped Across America' trek in late October. In late Bill Leverty put down sessions on TED POLEY's 'Collateral Damage' solo album.

FIREHOUSE was scheduled to headline the 'Z Rock' festival at Dudley JB's in the UK in September 2006 but withdrew citing a "material breach in the contract". In early 2007 the band announced they were to team up with L.A. GUNS and WARRANT for the '80s Invasion' North American tour.

A stripped down acoustic version of 'When I Look Into Your Eyes' was contributed to the 'VH1 Metal Mania Stripped Volume 3' compilation album issued through Sidewinder Music in March 2007. That same month it was announced C.J. Snare had joined the ranks of SCRAP METAL, a live project featuring NELSON's Gunnar and Matthew Nelson, SLAUGHTER's Mark Slaughter, KELLY KEAGY of NIGHT RANGER and ERIC MARTIN of MR. BIG.

That July the band appeared at a once in a lifetime gathering of 80s Rock acts dubbed 'Rocklahoma', a three-day outdoor festival held in Pryor, Oklahoma, sharing the billing with RATT, VINCE NEIL, WARRANT, SLAUGHTER, QUIET RIOT, WINGER, DOKKEN, JACKYL, FASTER PUSSYCAT, ENUFF Z'NUFF, STEELHEART, 36 INCHES, Y&T, POISON, BULLETBOYS, BANG TANGO and GREAT WHITE.

In 2009 C.J. Snare and Bill Leverty were added to the list of guest musicians appearing on Christian rockers LIBERTY N' JUSTICE's ninth studio album and fifth "all-star" project, 'Light It Up'.
