Biography

KALIBAS was created in Rochester, New York during December of 1999, forged by the trio of guitarist Jody Roberts, bassist Paul Pieramico and drummer Erik Burke, subsequently enrolling vocalist Pat Murphy and second guitarist Greg Herman. Erik Burke is a scene veteran of such acts as NUCLEAR ASSAULT, VALPURGA, LETHARGY, SULACO, MUNGBEANDEMON and BLATANT CRAP TASTE.

In April of 2000 the band cut their first product, a 7" vinyl single, 'Eyes Forever Red', for the Howling Bull America label. KALIBAS man Greg Hermann, also active with INERTIA and LOW TON, would switch to drums to found Math Metal band PSYOPUS in 2002. Hermann was duly replaced by Aaron Nichols for recording of a split album shared with RUNE, issued in 2003 through Relapse Records.

Willowtip Records released the EP 'Enthusiastic Corruption of The Common Good' in September 2003, shortly after the group had folded. The final line-up involved singer Pat Murphy, guitarists Matt Colbert and Jody Roberts, bassist Ryan Horwath with Kurt Lancaster on drums. Erstwhile band members Colbert, Roberts, Lancaster and guitarist Scott D'Agostino forged SKODAG in 2004 with PALEFACE vocalist Rich Kirk.

KALIBAS reunited in 2007 for a two track demo CD 'Well-armed Rochesterians'.
